Good book, bad book? It sounds really interesting. Have recently rediscovered, in my closet, under a sweater, Philip Gourevitch's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_Wish_to_Inform_You_That_Tomorrow_We_Will_Be_Killed_with_Our_Families

He has a lot of the same criticisms about the UN and for the US gov't, which was neglectful in its duties as Prom Queen of the World. My criticism being that 'Gourevitch' sounds like a Bond villain who lives in a nuclear bunker and murders people with a poison extracted from beets. Still really awful, really harrowing when paired with Clea Koff's "The Bone Woman," which is the book I'm talking about in the post. It creates a pair of parallel universes, where people are simultaneously being killed and covered with earth, and uncovered and scooped up to the surface as skeletons.
